Standing at this gorge, I felt like I was at the crossroads of the past and present. That is often how I often feel while in Armenia, but it is slightly more amplified while on the edge of a gorge looking out at the practically untouched landscape with a 13th Century church looming behind you as a silent, but ever present figure, that feels like the quintessential Armenian scene. All the colours that come together in my homeland, the lavenders and blues along the walls of the gorge, shaded by the sun, and above are the golden fields accented by hues of pink and orange, came together in this painting.
Part of my collection of paintings from my last trip to Armenia in 2023, I hope to capture these one of a kind moments from my homeland and document the beauty of my culture.
