Looking out the tour bus on the way to Lake Sevan, I quickly captured this photo of the road. I couldn’t help but feel it was a scene that would have been painted by the great Armenian painter, Martiros Saryan. It was the first painting I painted in this collection of paintings from my trip to Armenia in 2023 and a little homage to Saryan in my own style from one fellow Armenian painter to another. It felt like a good place to start on this unexpected journey of painting my trip to Armenia. This painting inspired me to continue and capture these moments, as well as document the beauty of my homeland.
