Truth be told, this painting is painted off a photo my mother took from our trip while walking through Amberd Fortress, but I loved the composition and that this was a painting done through her eyes. Walking through the archways, is like walking from one painting through another with the arches as the frames and the varying fortress ruins backed by the Armenian landscape being the paintings. You can’t help but wonder how these places looked back when they were built while going through the fortress, but part of me also admires and reveres at these stoic walls standing through history now with flowers blooming through the cracks and enveloped by greenery and the persistence of nature/life.
Part of my collection of paintings from my last trip to Armenia in 2023, I hope to capture these one of a kind moments from my homeland and document the beauty of my culture.
